anybody know of an instance where buzzards aka vultures appear in folklore as a symbol for something other than the obvious 'scavenger' aspect of them? also, do you know of a comporable symbol in other cultures, particularly another animal? run with it... no answer could be too far off base or without worth.... GO!

vultures
can detect death b4 it actually happpens.........
scavenging is related to feeding.....i think.....
they are known to b patient in this also.....
all good to me.....
death can be beautiful........it's hard to wait for someone week to pass on........and they do this everyday.......
my favorite animal similar to scavenging.......
yet extremely powerful and special.....
the crow.....
shapeshifter- wise- psychic- one w/ change.........
beautiful bird too........
i look up more about this......if i learn anything more to add.....

Sat, June 12, 2004 - 3:44 AMAlso in the Merry Melodies cartoons the buzzard is depicted as a goofy, clumsy, ignorant creature...Home body... Local to one community and loyal to that space. I depict it as an expression of Apathea(greek for apathy but deeper meaning).....
Scavengers rely on external force to make them happy, wrapped up in emotion trying to get out without any will power.

I've seen the cover, with the white crow on it, but I haven't had a chance to read it. It's supposedly filled with symbolism.
In movies, you know something is dead when you hear the buzzing of flies, but that's just Hollywood. -
